Upgrade: unique bloodline, power and winning mentality

20 october 2014

Upgrade was born in the stables of the Florijn-family in Geesteren. The well bred stallion was approved by the KWPN and acted at an international level with Caroline Müller until recently.
Nevertheless, the high-powered Heartbreaker-son did not have real chances, nor in breeding and in sport. Since a few months he is in training with John Whitaker and this seems to be changing.

Upgrade performed succesfully at Grand Prix level with Caroline Müller.
Daan Horn knows very well what makes Upgrade apart from other horses: "Upgrade had placed himselve for eight Grand Prices in the winter of 2011.
This was on two and three-star level, but it shows his good commitment. His attitude and fighting spirit is really special. He is devastatingly careful, always wants to go 0, it does not matter how high it is.
Upgrade always wants to get the best results. Just as it gets higher and more difficult, it seems there is still more to come loose at him and he goes just a bit further.
Just a few horses have this mentality and as a rider you are really blessed with it."

As an eight-years old Upgrade was already one of the tophorses at CSIO 5* competitions in Rome and Rotterdam. John Whitaker called once and asked about Upgrade.
He saw him jumping and thought is was a great horse. Back then, we did nothing, but now Caroline is pregnant and she can no longer ride the stallion. We contacted John himself and he was excited about it. He is keen about Heartbreaker-descendants.

Meanwhile Upgrade is already for two months at his stable. The combination has already started one time internationally and nationally in England. I expect to see Upgrade win competions in the short term, because the stallion's mentality seems to fit John properly.
Hopefully Upgrade gets the chances he deserves with John.
