Legendary Libero H passed away01 july 2006World Cup winner and super breeding stallion
In the night from Saturday to Sunday the legendary Holstein bred stallion Libero
H (Landgraf I x Ronald) died at the age of 25.
The stallion, who was awarded the preferent predicate last winter, started his career
with Dutch rider Jos Lansink. For years the trio, Libero H, Jos Lansink and Hans
Horn was unbeatable. His most remarkable result was his World Cup win in 1994. Everybody
who attended the final will remember the moment when, on the final triple bar, for
a moment it seemed that the stallion would jump right into it, but then pulled everything
together and amazingly stayed clear.
Libero H was Dutch champion 4 times, he won 10 World Cup qualifiers, 12 Grand Prix
s, and he was over 200 times placed at international competitions. With those excellent
results, Libero H was one of the most winning stallions in the international jumping
sport.
At first, Libero H was not really popular with the breeders. Only after his offspring
started performing in the sport, he became more appreciated. He seemed especially
a good match with mares that have a lot of Farn or Nimmerdor blood. In that combination
he gave really remarkable jumpers. In the meantime we know that Libero H has
brought international jumpers as no other stallion. Almost one fourth of his offspring
that is produced in the sport is at international level. His most famous offspring
s are: Iowa, Ikoon, No Mercy, Aquila, Maike, Liberty en Coonawara.
At last, the breeding influence of Libero H is enormous. With his son Numero
Uno he made his mark and brought a whole new stallion line into the Dutch breeding,
through his sons Tygo, Unaniem, Vincenzo, Van
Gogh and Viento Uno W. Other approved sons of Libero H are the full brothers
Nijinski and Ustinov, Ikoon and Niagara.
Libero H: the legend is no longer with us, but his influence lives on.
